Terminal underway in Can Tho airport
 
The construction of a terminal with a budget of VND1 trillion (US$62.5 million) to serve international airlines kicked off Sunday at the under-construction Can Tho Airport.
The terminal, constructed by the Vietnam-based Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate Corporation, covered an area of 20,750 square meters with two floors and two separated areas for international and domestic flights.

The design of the terminal is inspired by the image of a small boat made from three planks of wood, which is the typical means of transport in the Mekong River Delta.

The new terminal project is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2010, after 680 days of construction.

When placed in operation at the end of 2008, the Can Tho International Airport will be the major airport of the Mekong Delta, capable to receive 3 million domestic arrivals per year.

It is also expected to start serving international flights at the beginning of 2010.
