Feudal chiefs of the North of Việt Nam from the 16th century to the 18th century. From 1545, they held all the power of the Le Court.
Lord Trinh Tung gave himself the principality in 1595. The Trịnh did not usurp the crown but reduced the Le to the role of puppets. Their power ended only in 1786 when Quang Trung achieved the reunification of the country.
