The festival gathers every year on the 13th day of the 1st lunar month, people of many villages for the celebration of a festival of quan ho song, held on Lim hill (Lung Giang, Tien Son, former Bac Ninh).
1. Singing, on the hill: groups of male singers holding umbrellas, and female singers holding circular and flat palm hats, walk towards each other. The male group approaches and invites the female group to take betel (or vice-versa). If the latter accepts, a dialogue, in the form of alternating songs is initiated. If the two groups reach mutual understanding, they promise to meet each other again on an agreed date to swear brotherhood (quan ho nghia).
2. Singing in houses: the guest group arrives at the entrance of the hosl village and sings to wish the village a happy new year. The host group in turn sings a welcome to the visitors and also wishes them a happy new year. The guests are invited in; they sit face to face on two sofas or in two lateral bays. Conversation is in the form of songs, from the beginning to the end.
3. Singing aboard boats: boys and girls row boats on a pond, pool or the Biu river while singing alternately.
