Tran Nguyen Dan (1325-1390). A descendant of General Tran Quang Khai and the maternal grandfather of Nguyen Trai. For his role in helping King Tran Nghe Tong suppress a revolt and reestablish the Tran dynasty, he was appointed Grand Regent (Tư Đồ Phụ Chính).
When he was unable to oppose the rise to power of Ho Quy Ly, he submitted his resignation and retired to Con Son (Hai Duong province). His collection of poems, Băng Hồ ngọc hác tập, reflects the social decadence at the end of the Tran period.
