Tran Quoc Toan was a member of the Tran royal family who distinguished himself as a soldier in the war against the Yuan-Mongols (13th century).
Considered too young to take part in the Binh Than conference to discuss the war, he crushed an orange in his hand without knowing it. On his return, he formed troops which he led to combat under a banner bearing the words “Annihilate the enemy to be worthy of our King!” He won several victories.
