Trieu Khuc Festival
Trieu Khuc village or Ke Do (Tan Trieu, Thanh Tri distric, Hanoi) worships the tutelary genius Phung Hung (Bo Cai Dai Vuong). This hero stopped at this place before attacking the capital, then under Chinese rule, to liberate the country. He ascended the throne on the 10th day of the 1st lunar month. Prior to the commemorative ceremony, a procession conveys the cap and tunic of the King from the Sac Communal house to the Great Communal house. Participants stand face to face in two lines and move laterally. The ritual at the Great Communal house is accompanied by the traditional dance mua bong. Officiants and dancers wear exquisite traditional costumes. There are many forms of popular entertainment (i.e. famous traditional wrestling, dragon dance...); At midnight on the 12th day of the 1st lunar month, the festival ends with a race of flags, commemorating the choice the valorous warriors made with Phung Hung.
