Trinh Doanh (1720-1767) was a member of the clan of Trinh Lords. He acceded to the shogunal power in 1740 under the title of King Minh Do Vuong.
He took measures to consolidate the prestige of the Trinh, shaken by his predecessor Trinh Giang. Strong at poetry, he liked verses written in Nom (Vietnamese written form). He contributed to improving the literary language and the national forms of poetry.
