Virtue is the concept in ancient Sino-Vietnamese philosophy. In the ordinary sense, it means good qualities of a person, demonstrated in actions.
In philosophy, it has a larger and deeper meaning surpassing the human world to designate “beauty, greatness, righteousness, and purity.”
According to Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi, the Tao (Đạo) is the origin of the world, while virtue is the expression of the Tao that generates life. In Confucianism, virtue is human nature, raising human existence to a higher plane and exerting a beneficial influence on the surroundings.
